Hello Honey Bee friends! I’m so excited to share my card today as the first day of Inspiration Week for the newest release, “Adventure Awaits” by Honey Bee Stamps. This release just went live and is available to purchase. It’s filled with awesome layering dies, masculine-themed sets and awesome papers! There are so many cool products for the outdoor enthusiast, fishing sportsman and motorcycle rider. I’m using the following new products on this feature card:

Lovely Layers: Owl Honey Cuts dies

Lovely Layers: Slice and Stump Honey Cuts dies

Lovely Layers: Trees Honey Cuts dies

To the Wise One stamps and coordinating Honey Cuts dies

Adventure Awaits Paper Pad

Adventure Awaits Gem Stickers

The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.

My card includes a background of trees and a foreground of the owl and tree stump. Sometimes that gets tricky to do! To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by cutting the owl pieces from white cardstock. I sponged on Pumice Stone and Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Ink to the edges of the pieces. I layered the pieces using Bee Creative Precision Glue. I added foam tabs under the wing pieces to make them stand out a bit more for more dimension. I used Copics in W4, W2, C6, C3 and 100 to define the feathers further.

I cut the the tree trunk pieces and attached them together to create the foreground stump. I used some Copics to enhance the dark brown base. I used 100 Black Copic to define the bark. For the top of the stump, I used Copics in E43, E55, E57, W4 and W2 to create the tree ring pattern.

I attached the gorgeous tree paper to the front panel for a really pretty background. This Adventure Awaits Paper Pad has amazing papers! I cut and colored two branches and attached them from the left side of the panel and added tall bare tree trunks around these branches. So many times you’ll see lots of dead tree tops in a densely wooded area. I did add some greenery to the trunks using the branch layering options from the Lovely Layers: Trees Honey Cuts dies. In addition, I used more greenery from the Tree set to add greenery around the base of the trunk. It works for that, too! Lastly, I stamped and cut out the sentiment phrases (and a black shadow piece) using the To the Wise One stamps and coordinating Honey Cuts dies. Specks of white using a white Gelly Roll pen enhances the greens. Finally, I attached two golden gem stickers to the eyes and added a smaller black dot on them for the pupils. These eyes really stand out, just like a real owl! I love now they turned out. An owl’s eyes are amazing and deserve to shine even on cards!

STUNNING Card! I had already placed my order, but after seeing your card, I used your links to go back in for a 2nd order with the Trees I thought I didn’t need (wrong! lol) the gems so I could copy the eyes, and another paper pad, because I have a feeling one will never be enough! Thanks for such beautiful inspiration, and detailing the coloring tools used!
