Hello friends! July 4th is this week and we plan to have a party at our new lake home to celebrate the United States Independence Day. I’m excited to have the twins home for a 4-day weekend along with family and friends for the party. It should be lots of fun! In honor of Independence Day, I have made a festive card to celebrate. I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:
Lovely Layers: Eagle Honey Cut dies
Lovely Layers: Bunting dies Honey Cut dies
Land of the Free 5″ X 6″ Cling Stamp
Because of the Brave 4″ X 6″ Stamp set and coordinating Honey Cut dies
Americana Paper Pad 6″ X 8.5″ paper pad
Honey Bee Heavy Crepe Paper – Americana
The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.
To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I stamped the top half of the card front with the Land of the Free 5″ X 6″ Cling Stamp. I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink on white cardstock. I like to use my Honey Bee Stamping Pressure Tool when I used these large stamps. I works great to get all the stamp’s detail to appear. For the bottom the card front, I layered a piece of pattern paper from the Americana Paper Pad 6″ X 8.5″ paper pad that looked like distressed red painted shiplap. It’s so cool!
A strip of stars from the same pad and layers of the Honey Bee Heavy Crepe Paper – Americana add to the festive flair of this card. To create the strips of crepe paper, I simply cut about a 1/2″ off of each color and used a scissors to cut fringe lines up from the bottom of the strip. I cut the fringe while the strip was still folded. It takes seconds. I layered two strips of each color on the front of the card and finished with the strip of stars. I used a white Gelly Roll pen to add stitch lines on the star strip and first layer of the crepe paper, too.
I cut the layered elements of the eagle using the Lovely Layers: Eagle Honey Cut dies. I added some shading to the feathers using Copic Sketch in W4, W2, E44 and E47. I followed the layered guide on the website, using two colors of brown, white and gold cardstock for the layers. I used Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab between the first and second eagle layers to make the bird more dimensional.
I also cut the Lovely Layers: Bunting dies Honey Cut from red, white and blue cardstock and layered them together using glue. The center one was made with the larger bunting dies and the other two with the smaller dies. I added a gold star and an extra white layer on the largest bunting.
I assembled the card, layering the elements over the background. Three gold stars above the eagle and the “Happy Independence Day” phrase at the bottom makes this card festive from top to bottom!
