I’m noticing that my irises are beginning to poke through my garden. I love when they are in bloom because the color of irises is so beautiful. It’s Bobbi Lemanski here, sharing a spring birthday card filled with vibrant irises handpicked for the birthday friend or loved one. I’m using the following new products from the 9th year Birthday Release by Honey Bee Stamps:

Lovely Layers: Iris Honey Cuts dies

Celebrating You stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts dies

Sandie’s Garden 3D Embossing Folder

Textiles & Texture: Celebrate Paper Pad

Beeluxe Detail Blending Brushes Size 10, Size 7 and Size 5

Let’s Party Gem Stickers

The featured project below is also made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.

To create this card, I embossed a 5″ X 7″ piece of the pink flecked pattern paper from the Textiles & Texture: Celebrate Paper Pad using the Sandie’s Garden 3D Embossing Folder. I used my blender brush to apply a light layer of color around the edges of the embossed design. I used Wilted Violet Distressed Oxide Ink and Shaded Lilac. The paper has specks in it, but I added a few more with my V09, V04 and Y19 Copic Markers.

For the iris flowers, I cut all the flower and leafy pieces from white cardstock. I blended Wilted Violet Distressed Oxide Ink around the inked edges – darker around the edges and lighter in the centers. Next, I added yellow for the centers using my Beeluxe Detail Blending Brushes Size 10, Size 7 and Size 5 (shown in the photo) and Mustard Seed Distressed Oxide Ink. The layers were joined together using Precision Glue to make the bold and bright iris blossoms and buds. I used Copic Markers in V09, V04, BV04, Y19 and YR24 to add additional detail on the blossoms. For the leaves, I used YG67, YG17, YG23 and YG03 colors. I used a Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab between two of the bottom layers of the blossom to make it standout with dimension.

The flowers were attached to the card front along with the leaves. I added a few Let’s Party Gem Stickers around the iris blossoms. Lastly, I stamped, die cut, and attached a phrase in the lower right corner of the card front. The phrase is from the Celebrating You stamp set and coordinating Honey Cuts dies.
