Hi everyone! Leanne here and I have two shaker cards to share today. In keeping with our theme this week of clean and simple holiday cards, these are quick and easy to reproduce, but still have that wow factor.

A pocket shaker is so easy to make. All you need is some stamp storage pockets that measure approximately 5.5″ wide by 7.5″ tall and some pretty sequins mixes. I have used Honey Bee sequin mixes for these cards – Holiday Traditions & Log Cabin. I have also created some decorative background panels for inside the pocket using the Snowfall Background Stencil and Glimmer Paste.

For the gold and burgundy red pocket shaker, I used Golden Crystal Nuvo Glimmer Paste. For the silver and blue one I used Silver Gem Glimmer Paste. Glimmer Paste can be applied easily over any stencil with Nuvo Media Spatulas.

After the paste fully dried, I trimmed the panels to A2 size and slid them into the pocket. I then added the sequins and a little goes a long way so you don’t need to add much. I only added about a 1/2 teaspoon of sequins. To close them up, I folded over the top half of the pocket and secured to the back with strong adhesive.

I wanted the stenciled glittery snowflakes and sequins to stand out as much as possible, so I kept the outside clean and only added the greeting. I used the Believe Honey Cuts along with the Believe stamp set to create a greeting that coordinates with the colors of the sequin mixes. I have found that Scor-Tape is the best way to adhere card stock elements to a slick surface like these storages pockets.

A big benefit of this type of shaker card is that it’s still thin enough to mail with out needing extra postage. Plus I think they are a fun way to infuse a little holiday magic into your card making.
