Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today for my first official design team member post! For those of you who have never visited my blog, let me introduce myself: I have 3.5 year old twins, and I love to watercolor. That’s pretty much me in a nutshell haha! Today, I thought I would share a card using one of my new favorite Honey Bee stamp sets: Hello Gorgeous. Let’s get started on the details!
I started by die cutting all of the pieces included in the Hello Gorgeous coordinating die set from some watercolor paper, then heat embossed them all using the Hello Gorgeous stamp set and gold detail embossing powder. I then watercolored all of them using my Daniel Smith watercolors in a cool, jewel toned color scheme. It was my first time watercoloring succulents, and I’m in love! They’re so pretty, and so unique!
After watercoloring all of the different floral elements from Hello Gorgeous, I decided to layer up the beautiful Hugs die set. I die the the largest layer from heavy weight vellum, the middle layer from matte gold glitter card stock, and the top layer from a beautiful fuchsia card stock. I arranged everything on my card stock, and decided the background needed a bit more interest, so I used the thinnest hexagon stencil and my Clarity Stencil Brushes to blend some teal ink in the background. I adhered the florals and the greeting using a variety of dimensional and liquid adhesive to give plenty of depth and texture.
The last step was to add some Hollywood sequins to sort of round out the floral sprays.
Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed my first official Design Team post!! I am so grateful to be here! Thanks for stopping by!
