Good morning!  I’m super excited to be kicking off the 12 Designers of Christmas series here at Honey Bee Stamps! For the next 12 days Honey Bee Stamps will be highlighting different stamps and each day that highlighted stamp set(s) will be on sale in the Honey Bee Stamps shop! 🙂

Today I’m  getting things started with the Just My Type and Hand Lettered Alpha stamp sets!

I love all the details of this cute little typewriter!  I see lots of gorgeous teal typewriters on pinterest and decided to use those as a basis for my coloring!  I colored the typewriter with copic markers and added touches of spectrum noir clear sparkle to the keys.  Next I used the coordinating die to die-cut the typewriter and then use a craft knife to carefully cut a slit at the top of the typewriter so I could insert my own paper!
Next I tore a piece of computer paper into a basic triangular shape.  I stamped the sentiment using the letters and symbols from Hand Lettered Alpha.  Once the sentiment was done I set out to “age” my paper.  I added swipes of old paper, antique linen, and tea dye distress ink and curled the edges of the paper around a pencil for more dimension.  Then I tucked it into the slit I cut in the typewriter and traced the bar from the stamp back in with a copic multi-liner.

To create my background I stamped the asterisks from Hand Lettered Alpha and Hand Lettered Numeric with a pale beige ink to resemble snowflakes!  Then I cut a strip of red and teal cardstock and adhered it to the background.  I used foam mounting tape to adhere my typewriter to the cardstock strips and then adhered parts of the sentiment to the background so that the paper is wavy in spots.  Due to the extra dimension, this probably isn’t the best card to stick in an envelope for mailing but could be easily tucked inside a gift box! 🙂

I don’t think this stamp set was originally designed for Christmas cards but I thought it worked perfectly with the Hand Lettered Alpha set to create a Christmas letter! You could easily replicate this design using birthday or other sentiments to fit various occasions!  Thanks so much for visiting today and thanks to Melissa and the Honey Bee team for inviting me to be part of the 12 Designers of Christmas!  Make sure to check back tomorrow for the next guest designer!  Have a wonderful day!
