Happy Saturday friends! It’s Carly and today I want to share a super easy gift box idea using the Honey Bee Ornament Tag to create a little window for the goodie you are giving! It’s perfect for sweet treats and other small gifts like nail polish and cute socks. I think I will be giving one to my Secret Santa with some stripey socks but shh, don’t tell her!

Let’s start with creating the box wrap that will slide over the base, like a matchbox. I used glitter cardstock for this but the options are endless, just choose something on the heavy side. Cut the chosen paper to 4-1/4 x 12. Score at 2, 3-1/2, 7-1/2 and 9.

After scoring die cut the ornament from the largest panel between score lines, the section that is 4 x 4-1/4. This negative die cut will create the window on your box. Depending on the gift you will be giving, you might want to adhere acetate into the window (good for candy and probably not necessary for socks). With heavy paper, it can be useful to score the paper again after die cutting. Then fold at score lines (but don’t adhere yet) and set aside.

The base of the box is the easiest box ever! Start with a 7×7 piece of cardstock. Score at 1-1/2, rotate a quarter turn and score again. Repeat until all sides are scored.

Use a circle punch or die to make half circle notches in what will be the sides of the box. The notches will make it easier to open the gift.

With scissors, cut the score lines on the left & right, top & bottom (up to the horizontal score line) to create tabs.

Trim a little from each tab at an angle.

Use strong adhesive on tabs and assemble.

With box base assembled, place box wrap around base and adhere the flaps of the wrap to each other. I find finishing the box wrap this way ensures that I leave enough “room” to fit the box into the wrap and enough “space” to be able to remove it.

The ornament window is pretty darn cute all on its own but I also really like adding “Happy Holidays” with the Merry Christmas die set. It has such a fun retro look!

Thanks so much for hanging out with me for a bit! Have a great weekend!!!
