I’ll Never Desert You!!

I’ll Never Desert You!!

Jun 14, 2017 | Posted by Laurie | Cardmaking, Design Team, Die Cutting, Laurie Case, New Products, Papercrafting, Stamping, Watercolor |

Hello everyone and welcome back!!  I hope the beginning of the week has been good and hope the rest of your week will be fantastic!!  I’m back to share a card made with products from the latest release. I also used both types of Distress Inks on this project. Let’s get started, shall we??

I was in the mood to create my own watercolored background but wanted to try something besides ink smooshing.  I’ve seen watercolored striped backgrounds and love the way they look but had never tried one myself, so today was the day!!  I wanted a soft background so I chose Distress Oxide Inks, as they provide more of a pastel, chalky sort of look.  I used Wilted Violet, Broken China, Worn Lipstick and Cracked Pistachio.

Using a ruler and a paintbrush, I painted each stripe.  Now, this started as just stripes but I decided to take it a step further and create a PLAID background!!!  The first set of stripes were all basically the same size so I varied the sizes of the stripes on the opposite way.

I die cut the watercolour panel using a Stitched Rectangle Die.  For my focal point, I used the new Stick with Me Stamp Set and co-ordinating Honey Cuts.  I stamped each image in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and used regular Distress Inks in the same colours, with the exception of Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive for the greens.  You can see a noticeable difference, especially in the colour of the pot, which is Worn Lipstick.

I foam mounted all my images and added a few touches of white gel pen.  The sentiment comes from the new Prickly Sentiments Stamp Set which I also stamped in Versafine.  After looking at the background, I decided it needed just a LITTLE something extra. So I took a gold glitter gel pen and added lines in the blue stripes only.

To finish off, I picked out a few sequins from the Petal Peach Sequin Mix and added them here and there.

I’m so happy I tried this out. It’s easy, fun and gives a great result!

Thankyou for dropping in today!!  See you soon!

Laurie
