Happy Wednesday Honey Bee friends! Today I’m featuring the awesome Lovely Layers: Coneflower Honey Cuts for my autumn-feel card! I had lots of fun ink smooshing watercolor card stock for my flower layers. Check out the details below!

To begin, I used several shades of Distress Inks in yellow/orange shades. I created two panels of colors, one lighter and another with darker shades. Both panels were created by smooshing the Distress Ink stamp pads onto my craft mat. Then I used the Distress Sprayer to spritz just a bit of water onto the inks. I then dipped my watercolor card stock into the various colors, and most importantly, I used my heat tool to dry each layer. That’s how you get the colors to have that layered look. Also, be sure to spritz just a bit of water–too much water and the colors will all run together. I always experiment with my water amounts to get it how I like it.

I dipped and dried so many layers that I lost track (too much fun! LOL) of the order of the Distress Ink colors, but the ones I used are: Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, and Crackling Campfire. For the leaves I used Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness Distress Inks, and also Twisted Citron Distress Spray. Here’s a look at the pieces I die cut after the panels were dry. For the top layer of the Coneflower center, I spritzed some Ground Espresso Distress Spray onto some of the leftover orange/yellow panel, spritzed a bit of water, and then dried it.

I die cut all of the Coneflower layers from my inked smooshed panels and used Bee Creative glue to adhere them together. For the sentiment I die cut the Bottom layer of the Happy Honey Cuts from some of the lighter colored ink smooshed panel. The middle layer is Neenah Desert Storm and the top layer is 80# Neenah Solar Crest card stock. Next I used the “birthday” stamp I found in the Enjoy Stamp Set and stamped it onto Neenah Desert Storm with Bee Creative Intense Black ink. I used my paper trimmer to cut it into a rectangle shape.

I made a background for my card by inking up the Buffalo Plaid stamp with some beige ink and stamped it onto Neenah Desert Storm card stock. I trimmed it to 4″ x 5-¼” and spattered some diluted white gouache onto the panel. When the spatters were dry, I used Bee Creative glue to adhere it to a top-folding A2 card base. Then I glued the sentiment, flower and leaves to the card front. I added some square foam tape to the “birthday” sentiment and popped it up on the card.

When I was adding links for the Honey Bee products, I saw that the Lovely Layers: Coneflower is out of stock. Many apologies!!!! I am so sorry I did not realize this (my life has been crazy lately!) but I hope you will click the “notify me when available” button and add your email. I know that Melissa said that a shipment is on its way and you will be notified by email when it is back in stock. I sure hope I’ve inspired you today, and I always appreciate your stopping by! Have a wonderful, crafty week!
